In recognition of the effects of corruption in undermining economic growth, weakening institutions and increasing the cost of doing business, Global Compact Network Kenya in partnership with The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC), has today launched the Corruption Risk Assessment and Management Guidelines.

These Guidelines provide a practical framework for the public and the private entities to effectively identify, assess and manage corruption risks within institutions.

The Guidelines have been developed in accordance with Section 9(3) of the Anti-Bribery Act (Cap 79B), which mandates the EACC to assist public and private entities and any interested person to develop and put in place procedures for prevention of bribery and corruption.

The launch of these guidelines marks a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional integrity and promote ethical business practices across all sectors in the country.

Speaking at the forum the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Dr. David Oginde (PhD) FCS called upon everyone to rise to their collective responsibility towards ensuring that corruption is eradicated in our Country. He noted that corruption is not to be frowned upon, but to be dealt with boldly through un-faltered leadership commitment.

Global Compact Network Kenya Executive Director Judy Njino in her address said the organisation is committed to the principle that good governance and ethical business conduct are not optional—they are foundational to sustainable development and national prosperity.

In his remarks Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission CEO Mr. Abdi Mohamud represented by Director for Ethics and Leadership Mr. CPA John Lolkoloi, OGW, CFE noted that corruption is a global issue that has found its way into every aspect of the society gravely affecting citizens.

He further noted that bribery, conflict of interest, trading of information, manipulation of accounts and tax evasion impose heavy costs on the economy, undermine development and weakens service delivery.
