Equity Group Holdings PLC, a participant with the UN Global Compact since 2021, has launched its 2023 Sustainability Report, titled “A Sustainable World is a Transformed Africa,” marking its third sustainability report.
As sustainability reporting becomes increasingly vital for business accountability and transparency, organizations are prioritizing the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into their operations. Global Compact Network Kenya Executive Director Judy Njino commended the Bank's on-going commitment to driving sustainable progress and transformation guided by its Africa recovery and resilience plan.
Speaking to guests who included Zainab Bangura, Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi, and Wanjira Mathai, Managing Director for Africa at the World Resources Institute, Ms. Njino further underscored the need to intensify efforts and partnerships at scale to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Equity MD and CEO James Mwangi noted that since the founding of the Bank 40 years ago, Equity Group has been dedicated to fostering inclusive and sustainable development and there was a need to ensure the environment in which people are living supports sustainable life.
