
East Africa’s leading investment Company Centum has officially joined the UN Global Compact. The company was welcomed to the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative during a certificate handover ceremony at the company’s headquarters at Two Rivers.
Centum joins over 24,000 leading companies globally that have aligned their business strategies and operations with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
Welcoming the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) listed company, Global Compact Kenya Executive Director Judy Njino commended Centum for joining the initiative and highlighted the various ways the investments sector can contribute to the Sustainable Development Agenda by directing capital towards projects and companies that promote social and environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the ceremony, in the presence of Board member Catherine Igathe and the leadership team, Centum CEO Dr. James Mworia emphasized that, the commitment to join the UN Global Compact comes at a critical time and will continue to shape the companies' strategies, from investments to day-to-day operations.
Finally, Ms. Njino made a call to other companies to join the UN Global Compact noting that the organization is ready to support businesses to assess, define, implement, measure, and communicate their sustainability strategy through local, regional & global platforms
