We are proud to announce that Intra Africa Assurance Limited has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact- the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
This is not just a milestone for Intra Africa Assurance, but a bold statement from Kenya’s insurance sector, a move that reflects the growing momentum within the industry to embrace sustainability as a strategic driver of long-term growth and impact.
With over 40 years of operations, Intra Africa Assurance becomes part of a growing list of insurers embracing sustainability as a strategic priority — aligning their business with the Ten Principles of the UNGC in human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.
With only 17% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on track globally, Intra Africa Assurance’s decision couldn’t be more timely. As 2030 approaches, the role of the private sector in shaping a sustainable future is more critical than ever.
Intra Africa Assurance Principal Officer Benjamin Kinyanjui emphasized the company’s commitment to embedding sustainability at the heart of its operations. He noted that by joining the UN Global Compact, this initiative will enable Intra Africa to deepen and scale its existing sustainability initiatives.
Global Compact Network Kenya Executive Director Judy Njino, welcomed the company’s entry into the initiative, noting that by joining the UN Global Compact, Intra Africa becomes part of a global community of over 24,000 businesses across more than 80 countries committed to responsible business conduct.
She affirmed Global Compact Network Kenya’s readiness to support Intra Africa Assurance in its sustainability journey by providing tools, partnerships, and guidance to embed sustainability within the business and strengthen impact and accountability.
By joining, Intra Africa Assurance commits to submitting an annual Communication on Progress (CoP)—reinforcing transparency and its dedication to sustainable business.
