As sustainability reporting grows in importance for business accountability and transparency, Absa Bank Kenya, a participant with the UN Global Compact, has launched its second sustainability report under the theme "Banking on a Better, Sustainable Future." The report highlights the Bank’s commitment and achievements in embedding sustainability as a key pillar of its business strategy and purpose.

Global Compact Network Kenya Chair Martin Ochien’g, among the key guests, urged participants to be part of the generation that begins to reverse years of environmental degradation and leave the world in a better state. He also called on companies to join the UN Global Compact and help elevate sustainability highlighting leadership as a key aspect in driving this key agenda.

Absa Kenya MD & CEO Abdi Mohamed and a member of the Board at the Global Compact Network Kenya reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to operating in a manner that is not only profitable but also responsible, ethical and aligned with the broader needs of society. The Bank has committed Ksh. 22.3 billion in climate financing towards renewable energy, green building, and sustainable agriculture, demonstrating its dedication to combating climate change through impactful investments.

GCNK was also represented by Executive Director Judy Njino and Participants Engagement Assistant Manager Evonia Arina.
